Oregon Humanities

While my main role at Oregon Humanities is to art direct and design their magazine three times a year, I also support them on development and communication projects here and there. For the fall 2021 direct mail package, we included a keepsake postcard. We reached out to Victor Bizar Gomez to reimagine a mural he’d helped create a few years earlier, giving new life to the ingenious flippable composition.

The Detour podcast logo

Oregon Humanities got into the podcast game in the fall of 2021. An assemblage of their talks and archival interviews with writers, educators, artists, and activists, The Detour explores hard topics of our time. Check it out here.

For the logo, I leaned on philosopher Hans Jonas’ words that inspired the name of the podcast, about circling an idea and viewing it from multiple perspectives: "It is not only man’s relationship to the world that is indirect but also his relationship to himself. He arrives at his own being only via the detour of ideas about it. Knowing of his mortality, he must live as a human being with a self-image that is by no means self-evident but is the tentative result of questioning and speculation."

Pep Coworking Shop

In 2015, I opened Pep Coworking Shop in my neighborhood of Kenton. My dream was to have a space within walking distance of my home. I developed the business plan, secured the lease and furnished the space, as I dreamed up the brand.

Since its creation, Pep has had 50 members representing a broad range of professions, and it's exposed me to the most diverse group of people I've ever known. I'm so proud of it.

Pep 2.0

In the summer of 2019, I moved the shop just a couple doors down, to a space twice as large and with much better amenities. We started strong, with all desks full and some flexible space to grow into. It felt like the dream I’d had for the business all along.

The pandemic of 2020 hit us hard. Even with a few newly work-from-home folks in the shop, I lost a lot of members. In January of 2021, I decided it was time to let it go, and I started the process of closing the doors.

But life is funny sometimes. A former member reached out, and felt confident about buying a business like Pep at a time like that. We signed papers in February, and this new dreamer took the reigns on March 1. It’s such a gift to see this dream live on.

Carbon12

Carbon12 is a luxury apartment building in North Portland’s Williams corridor, another project of Kaiser+Path. At 85 vertical feet, it is the tallest mass timber and cross-laminated timber building in the country. This Squarespace site serves as a look-book for potential residents.

Christ Church

While attending Christ Church Portland, an open and affirming congregation, I had the honor of designing our our banner and t-shirts for Portland’s Pride Parade. “Who is welcome? All people!”

Overlook House

The Historic Overlook House is a beautiful stucco home, perched atop the bluff in North Portland, with eye-popping gardens and dainty amenities. Despite its being a mainstay in the Portland wedding scene, its website needed some love to attract younger guests, so I created a Squarespace site, refreshed with event photos and a modern palette.
